The Tower – Tarot Card Meaning

Wow this is definitely the card for me this week. Lots of challenges and rebuilding and reinstalling. Change provides opportunity. It is all around us at all times. It will lift me to better things. Let me know if you’d like me to draw a card for you!

The Tower

Traditional meaning:
Upheaval. Rapid change. Powerful forces.

This is a card about rebirth. Groundbreaking change. It showcases that the old has to make way in order for the new to have space to breathe and thrive.

Things are going to change. That’s OK! Change is what brings growth and improvement.

Lightning is a flash of inspiration. A realization that the old way needs to be shaken up. A material change has to be made. Something physical has to be released so that growth can happen.

“People will try to tell you that all the great opportunities have been snapped up. In reality, the world changes every second, blowing new opportunities in all directions, including yours.” –Ken Hakuta

My Interpretation:
Water is crashing. The top is aflame, maybe caused by a lightning strike. Billowing dark clouds loom. It brings to mind the famous photo “Lighthouse in a Storm, at la Jument” taken by Jean Guichard. That photo shows a lighthouse in Brittany, France with massive waves coming around it. A lightkeeper – Theodore Malgorne – stands at the doorway. It’s an incredibly powerful image.

Nature and life are powerful. Our world can strike with lightning. Fires. Floods. Illness. This change paves the way to a new, better future. One which can be rebuilt with our current knowledge of what we need and how it is done.

The challenge is here. It doesn’t really matter why or what at this point. Change is inevitable. Embrace the opportunity. Find that path through and you will build a new, infinitely better future going forward.
