King of Swords

King of Swords Tarot Card Review

Traditional meaning:

This is a card representing courage and intellectual power. It showcases the strength of staying steady and objective. It promotes solving problems and using the facts. It is about the truth.

Strive to find the balance of being determined and fair at the same time.

Consult with experts. Respect their advice. Contemplate your options. Then move forward. Take action to reach your goals.

Aquarian Deck Interpretation:

The powerful ruler is looking steadfastly in the direction of the challenge. There is a sword raised and ready, prepared to defend from any attacker. The king-soldier wears a sturdy helmet, a head covering with protective bosses, and a sturdy shield.

This prepared person is not ostentatious. This is not about achieving glory in battle. This is about a person prepared to do what needs to be done.

The world is cloudy and full of challenge. That is all right. The challenge will be met.

Cloister Deck Interpretation:

This King seems like a crusader to me, off in a bleak landscape, maybe defending travelers from attack by bandits. This is uncertain territory. There are people in the far distance but the King is all alone. It’s all right to be cautious – just be prepared and keep moving forward.

Hanson-Roberts Deck Interpretation:

This feels like the traditional King Arthur from the movie Excalibur with his gleaming shiny metal helmet and sword. He is mature, stoic, and ready. It’s a bit odd that he has a short sword. Maybe that just fits better in the space available. He is prepared for what is coming.

Tarot of the Divine Interpretation

Griffin / Persia / Persian Mythology – I love all three versions of this card. I especially like the griffin, which represents all people. Griffins are strong, patient, wise, and steady. Part lion, part eagle, they are wholly trustworthy. I love the steadiness of the griffin’s gaze, the preparedness, the pose, everything.
